Staying Healthy Isn't Only About Diet

Been a long time since i posted last ! Well i did come up with something useful to write about.Something that not many realize... This post is particularly on a friend's request, i was mentioning these things to her and she asked me post it up online as it might be a good read for a few in need :D

In recent years more and more people are becoming health conscious. They want to fix their diet as a part of taking care of themselves. But a fraction of them often forgets that diet is just ONE of the many things that contribute to your health. Another major thing that contributes to your physical health is your 'emotional health' !

It is vital to be healthy on an emotional level as well. By 'Emotional Health' i mean, how well can you balance your emotions. I wont go into too much detail, however i will list a few things below that are most common killers of any emotional health and how you can control them through a little paradigm shift :)

1. Worrying too much over a problem that you cant do much about:

Liked the quote so captured it.

  • If you are a student preparing for an exam, writing a report, submitting a thesis, doing your MS, Ph. D  Bachelors, or even a college/high school student, who keeps on worrying or is pressurized by the study load.... First of all, DO YOUR HOMEWORK: Do all the tasks you are supposed to do on your part. i know it is hard to stop yourself but seriously, stop procrastinating! Once you do all the work that you are supposed to do and u keep your things ready(i.e prepare for an exam etc), just sit back and relax. You've done your part all you can wait for is the results. there is no use worrying too much or being paniced. It will only make things worst for you.
If you are a last minute person and u can only work good under pressure, enjoy until the last minute :) you are BLESSED
  • If you are a housewife/Girlfriend/Boyfriend/husband: Firstly COMMUNICATE and be honest about your feelings. Communication does wonders!! Secondly TRUST your partner with heart and SAY IT. When they know that you trust them, they will feel the guilt before even breaking your trust, don't suspect them, don't spy on them, that is WRONG!!!.Give your partner freedom and Stop controlling each other too much.Give them time to miss you, don't stick with them 24/7. Remember, relationships are all about making each other feel special and good. Its not about being selfish and keep on hoping for the other person to make an effort ! Stop being selfish and life will be much easier for you. If u have tried everything and things between you and your partner are still not going well, let everything be, sometimes doing nothing solves the problems like they never existed :)

What ever the case, remember, not to worry about anything that you cant do much about. Worrying will only make things worst for you. it will disturb your brain, your hormones, your sleep...diet and eventually your health.

2. Wanting another person's lifestyle/getting jealous of others lifestyle:

Often i hear people say " i wish i had his kinda life". IF you are the one saying this , STOP saying it. Human mind is fragile and complex, it does listen to whatever you say and on a subconscious level it behaves accordingly. When you say statements like " i wish i had his life" or similar things, whats happening is, that you are lowering your own self esteem. And you are doing it in vain. Why? because you do not know what problems are faced by that very person whose life you are desiring. Remember, nothing is perfect. No body's life is smooth, some people face a lot of problems yet they can smile and pretend that they are the happiest, others face lesser problems yet they whine about it all the time. Be the prior one :)

RULE OF THUMB : IF U HAVE A PROBLEM, FIND A SOLUTION TO IT.IF YOU CANT SOLVE YOUR PROBLEM, STOP WORRYING ABOUT IT.

MORAL: Stay happy, Be positive :)

Revive your Dinner Table!

Something caused me to think today, how busy our lives have gotten. Work-Home-Sleep-Work.... Most will agree that we don't really get time to think about the tiny details of our daily eating habits that need a change. But they haven't even gotten our attention!

Well, here's a few I find worth mentioning.

  1. Table Salt: If you are using table salt, you IMMEDIATELY need to get rid of it! Table salt is acidic and can add to your gastric problems! salt is a natural antibiotic that kills good bacteria in the body. it messes up with the normal absorption of water  since it  retains water ; which possibly leads to constipation and the accumulations of toxins in the intestinal tract. Most table salts are depleted of minerals the body needs and have additives that are harmful when ingested.
Tip: Get natural or partially refined sea salt! It will give you the vital minerals that your body requires.
  2. Refined White Sugar: Of all the food known to us today, White sugar is the WORST!! I can keep on going with the amount of disadvantages;first of it will increase your dental bills,It can make you obese, over-weight, can cause you osteoporosis, and make you diabetic, weaken your eye sight, cause drowsiness, impair the structure of DNA, can cause food allergies.Tip: Encourage yourself and your kids to replace sugar by other natural sweeteners, honey could be the best option and it tastes great if you add a few table spoons of honey to tea and lemon water! Don't be fooled by consuming brown sugar, its almost the same.
  3. Carbonated Drinks: Carbonated or fizzy drinks (Coke, Pepsi, 7Up, Fanta etc) contain a great deal of sugar content. They also make your blood acidic. Body needs 37 glasses of water (pH 10) to neutralize the effects of one glass of Coke! IMAGINE the damage it can cause!

2. Nuts and seeds: We take nature for granted!  If you're a cereal lover, you might want to add nuts to your bowl of cereal. Just to name a few ; walnuts, almonds, amaranth, cashew nuts, coconut, hazelnut, millet, oats, peanuts! They contain a great deal of potassium, calcium, vitamin B1-B2, omega3 etc.

3. Carom seeds and mint leaves: Carom seeds might not be that popular in west, but i am sure you can find them at local food stores, or maybe an Indian shop. Carom seeds contain thymol and are quite good for indigestion problems.
Mint serves the same purpose. In addition mint also helps lessen blemishes and cleanses skin inside out, the trick is to include it in your daily routine! You can add mint to your daily diet by simply adding mint leaves to your lemon water, or make yourself some tasty mint chatni.
